Santana Encore Performance at the Joint

A job posting for an open sales manager position at House of Blues lists a heretofore-unannounced artist as a resident performer.

But the name is pretty familiar: Carlos Santana.

In a public listing issued by Live Nation for the position of sales manager at the music hall at Mandalay Bay, Santana’s name surfaces in a short list of acts for which a sales manager will need to sell tickets.

To quote: “Job summary: Generate ticket sales and upgrade package sales (individual and group) for resident shows, (ie Santana, Gospel Brunch, Steel Panther) …”

The notification verifies the Strip buzz alluded to by my colleague Robin Leach back in December, which was that Santana was indeed heading to House of Blues. A formal announcement of a Santana residency at HOB is scheduled for House of Blues in Los Angeles next Tuesday, formalizing the Las Vegas HOB's plans to bring the guitar legend to the stage beginning this spring. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Santana's run is for two years, 80 shows a year and starts May 2. The show is to be titled "Greatest Hits Live: Santana — Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow."

It is the first such headlining residency ever at House of Blues in Las Vegas.

Santana has not performed in Las Vegas, where he owns a home, since his final shows at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel in November. Santana was that venue’s resident headliner for 2 1/2 years.
