A celebration for Michaelina Bellamy has been set for tonight at 6 at Mr. B’s at 3824 Paradise Road. Guests are asked only to buy their own food and drinks.
A longtime vocalist with “Folies Bergere” and the Air Force Airmen of Note who also toured with Englebert Humperdinck, Bellamy died April 7 of acute myeloid leukemia. She was 59.
Bellamy performed at lounges and smaller venues throughout the city and had toured with Bob Hope on USO tours of Vietnam when she was a teenager. Bellamy also was known nationwide as the victim of an assault by Father George Chaanine at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church in January 2007, where Bellamy served as a singer and entertainment director.
Tonight’s “Celebrate the Life” event will feature performances by several Las Vegas entertainers and a video clip highlighting Bellamy’s life and career.
