Bread & Butter, the popular Henderson neighborhood bakery and café opened by former Bouchon baker Chris Herrin in 2011, has closed.
Herrin, who sold the restaurant last year before moving away from Las Vegas, posted an announcement on the Bread & Butter Facebook page today. In a separate message, Herrin wrote he was on his way to visit Calgary for a while but might possibly be returning to Las Vegas to “pick up a pastry chef job.”
Before creating his own take on a neighborhood bakery on Eastern Avenue near Anthem, Herrin worked for more than a decade in Strip kitchens including Le Cirque, Circo, Andre’s, and seven years at Bouchon’s acclaimed bakery.
Bread & Butter, known for its made-fresh-daily pastries and breads, creative sandwiches and root beer bar, was a quick success, garnering positive reviews and weekend crowds. Herrin also operated the short-lived Meat & Three restaurant in the same suburban shopping center, but decided to unload Bread & Butter and spend some time traveling and working in 2013.
