Cosmopolitan’s Comme Ça restaurant to close March 31

We are really gonna miss this place.

Comme Ça, the modern French restaurant created by chef David Myers that opened with the Cosmopolitan resort at the end of 2010, will close for good on March 31. A statement released by Cosmo reads: "We would like to thank the entire team for their hard work and commitment over the past five years at the resort ... We are constantly looking to add unique and compelling experiences to the resort and will be announcing an exciting concept over the next several months in the former Comme Ça space.”

When Cosmo first arrived on the Strip, other restaurants at the hip resort garnered more attention—José Andrés' Jaleo and China Poblano, Scott Conant's Scarpetta, the Bromberg brothers' Blue Ribbon and moneymakers STK and Holsteins. As the resort quickly developed a reputation for some of the best and most innovative dining in the city—conveniently clustered on the third floor away from the casino—Comme Ça climbed into the position of a critical darling and foodie favorite, thanks mostly to the guidance of executive chef Brian Howard.

Though Howard left his post there in December—he's planning to open his own Harvest & Larder Downtown this fall—rumors of Comme Ça's closure have been swirling for more than a year. Myers ended his attachment to the restaurant last year, and Cosmo's new ownership, the Blackstone Group, and new president and CEO Bill McBeath have stated that changes will be made to the popular property. Comme Ça is the first original Cosmopolitan restaurant to close.
