Nog it up!

Classic eggnog is a drink for those living on the wild side. It’s for the calorie-unconscious thrill seekers who enjoy a damned-if-I-get-salmonella rush.

Ellis Island Casino’s secret family recipe holds claim to being the most famous eggnog in Vegas. At $6 a glass and $29.95 a bottle, it’s the People’s Eggnog. And it’s as thick as a cup of alcoholic melted ice cream, just the way the people like it. Foodies may prefer the $20 eggnog cocktail at Restaurant Charlie (The Palazzo). Containing almond milk instead of cream, this cocktail is creamy without being thick.

Those unwilling to fork over the big bucks have another option. On tripadvisor.com’s Las Vegas eggnog forum, user vancouverkitty suggests strapped eggnoggers purchase an eggnog latte from a casino Starbucks and then spike it with a mini bottle of gift-shop rum. A great idea, if you don’t mind the taste of corporate coffee. –C. Moon Reed
